My son is almost 2 and loves this book. He overall loves the National Geographic Look and Learn series but this one is one of his favorites. The book is not about different dog breeds but rather about dogs in general, so if you are looking for a book that has a bunch of breeds in it this is not it. The book rather teaches children about dogs in general and how some dogs have long hair and some dogs have short hair and some have floppy ears and some have ears that stand up. They also give little facts about dogs and their sense of smell and hearing. The books are interactive in that they will ask the child to point out the dog with the floppy ears etc. The book not only teaches about dogs but gets the child involved by posing questions. Overall this is a great book in the series and i would recommend it to any parent that has a child who loves dogs.

My 15 month old is obsessed with dogs and this book is just perfect! I love that it is a board book so that it is sturdy and can't be ripped. There are lots of different dogs in this book. All different sizes, breads, mixes. I like how in addition to her looking at the dogs which she loves, it also has some learning elements with the different sizes of dogs. There are also facts about dogs for little ones. The pictures alone are worth it if your child is interested in dogs/animals but the facts make it even better. Would definetely recommend. Great buy! I plan on getting other books in the series.

We love the children books and magazines published by National Geographic and we have a growing inventory of these publications. My kids love them so much that we ordered this book even before it was published. Today, it arrived and both my kids have already gone through it a couple of times. This book is the newest addition to the National Geographic Look and Learn series. According to the publisher, the books in this series are prepared for children between 1 to 4 years of age. If you have other more famous books of these series like 'Count', 'Match', 'Opposites' and 'Different', you will find this one pretty similar to those in terms of the physical appearance and the organization. It is a 4.5 X 4.5 inches square with 22 pages. It is a classical board book design so that younger children can enjoy it without tearing the pages. The binding is of good quality (our experience from other books of these series) and the colors are vibrant. It is organized in a way that two adjacent pages have a picture of a single vehicle against monochrome background and the next pair of pages has the actual image taken at its original location (a boat in the sea or a plane in the sky etc.) In the first pair, some parts of the vehicle like windshield, tire , lights etc are marked and the next pair of pages either give a handy information or ask a simple question.Although I like this general design from the other books I have, there is something not that appealing about this book. May be, it is because of that this book is a little bit out of the scope of National Geographic (no wild animals or nature photos) or that the information given or the questions asked are too basic for someone over 2 years old to pay attention. The other books like 'Match'National Geographic Little Kids Look and Learn: Match and 'Same and Different'National Geographic Little Kids Look and Learn: Same and Different offer a lot more educational value and really challenging questions that would make a toddler think and pay attention. In these aspects, it seems that National Geographic want to take a slice from the high popularity of the 'things that go' among young children. My feeling is that this book can be beneficial for around one years of age while older children may find it a bit basic (they still enjoy the great photos though)My other criticism about the book is that it depicts a navy war ship (probably a plane carrier) in the section of boats. That is not a war vessel loaded with guns but still we try to avoid everything that even slightly refers to weapons, violence or war and in that aspect that selection is a real poor one for a book that is written for a toddler. In conclusion, both price wise and the quality wise it is a good addition to the series, however the contents do not match the taste of the other books we own from this series. So 4 stars out of 5...

This is a perfect book for any baby that loves dogs. Our daughter cannot get enough of dogs and she squeals with glee at this book. She is now 11 months old and she loves to turn the pages and point at the dogs. I'm sure she'll be enjoying this book for years. In terms of content, it has high quality photographs and a few basic informational tidbits for young kids. It is a very sturdy little book.

If you asked my 18 month old, this is the greatest book ever written. She even sleeps with it. Good quality, lots of pictures, and enough variation to be able to talk about the different types of dogs (good for kids who are learning to talk).

I bought a few of these books for my friends 2yr olds birthday. Shes a more intelligent toddler so I looked for books that would match that. The pictures are bright, the information is good for a small child, short sentences with little informational tidbits. I think these will be excellent.

Great little book for young children or beginning readers. Has great pictures of dogs and helpful tips for identification characteristics and basic care.

My 3 yr old grandson LOVES this book. His mom says he carries it everywhere. I like it because it has the thick pages so I don't have to worry about him getting rough with it. National Geographic Little Kids Look and Learn: Things That Go (Look & Learn)
