Great map, as good as the Michelin versions of Sicily at a fraction of the price. With a passenger navigating, this map helped negotiate several trips across Sicily this summer. Note that we relied primarily on Google Maps on an iPhone attached to a vent magnet device in our rental car. Google Maps showed real-time accidents and slowdowns even in small towns we passed through and had other features not available in a paper map. However, our trip was definitely made easier by having both the paper as well as tech smart phone maps.

Really a beautiful map, purchased for our upcoming trip. My only issue with it is that it is HUGE, and that may be a problem while traveling, since I will not have my dining room table handy to spread it out!

Very helpful for both remote/contract designers as well as on-site, in house designers. Also recommend for people working in related fields (product or project management, engineers, viz designers, etc) who'd like to introduce more UX practices into their team or make a transition in their career without going back to school. The beginning is a bit basic but has lots of useful examples and ideas for integrating into product development.

Buley's writing is accessible and engaging, and the highly practical nature of the book makes it very useful. I' highly recommend anyone interesting in UX (not just the solo practitioners referred to in the title) read it.That said, it's easy to get lost in the last 2/3rds of the book with the vast array of techniques she covers. Probably best to read the first few descriptive chapters, and then put it on your desk/quick-access bookshelf as a sourcebook to refer to when you need to know how to approach a specific UX task.

I'm definitely the first UX designer in my new job and this has been a lifesaver. It has great resources for building a team and getting everyone involved in the process. It is more a resource for workshops for brainstorming and developing user requirements, along with a brief overview of dealing with different "clients" within your company. If you're looking for a guide to managing and integrating UX projects this isn't the book you need.

I'm starting to do UX in a company where there hasn't been any UX designers before. And I am a newbie myself.This book has been of tremendous help in guiding me through the whole UX process. And it offers great tips for those working as the only UX guy.

As a UX Team of One I found this book really helpful and since reading it I've seen plenty of improvement in my working relationships.

Use this book if you need to be completely flooded with techniques on conducting UX (mostly) on your own.This book is written for people just getting started, but it's great for UX practitioners (like me) who find themselves introducing user research into a team that knows the benefits, but has no clue how to execute and scant patience.You may recognize a lot of the techniques, and most of them are geared for quick and dirty implementation. I encourage you to read the table of contents, as all discussed techniques are listed there.

Leah has written what equates to a UX survival guide in The User Experience Team of One. Being in this position at my current place of employment, this book has empowered me to go forth and do more with what I have. This book is perfect for lone UXers and those who are just thinking of getting into the user experience field. Buy the ebook version so you'll always have an easily searchable copy. Buy the physical version because the Rosenfeld books are gorgeous.
