This text was for a class titled "Aging and Health." I have a Masters in Social Work (specializing in Gerontology). I took class to earn additional accreditation by earning a "Certificate in Gerontology". There were nursing, Health Administration, and Social work students in this class, and all taking it to earn credit towards the above degrees. This text is excellent for covering the various health changes we may go through when we become older adults (which definitely helps me to practice social work, because I understand gerontological health ailments better and can provide better resources and counsel.) It also discusses psycho/social issues and how various health ailments are caused because of mental health issues, or mental health issues are caused because of poor health. Depression for example.The book was not in top notch condition when I received it at the beginning of my term. The cover was VERY wrinkled, and only reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars. All the pages were prestige. No markings or highlighting (which is the most important factor to me) and no missing or torn pages. Highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to understand aging. It definitely enhanced by working knowledge and compassion for this vulnerable population, that is too often taken for granted and disregarded.
It is more interesting to read than some other textbooks but, for that very reason, it is so time consuming to read. It is just packed with great information! The pictures always make me smile!
